Dona Maher Studio Newsletter Vol. 3 No. 1, Fall-Winter 2019/2020
/Happy holidays, Studio families and musicians! I am so so excited to share with you pictures, videos, and updates of the amazing season we have had between chorus, A Capella, soloists, and pianists of all ages and skill levels! After the busy holiday season, it has been so much fun to look back at how much has happened in and out of the Studio this past season. The recitals were exquisite, and each individual blew us away with their talent, emotion, and hard work. Hope everyone is relaxing and wishing health, happiness, and beautiful music in the new year! Please continue scrolling for a recap of recitals, rehearsals, and more!

Fall Fun in the Studio
Students Maeve and Juliana Mara cannot get enough of Saturday library volunteer Teddy!!
Hanson Youth Cheerleader Juliana Mara (age 8) poses after her piano lesson. Cheerleader, pianist- what CAN’t this girl do??
A Capella and Chorus Highlights
Studio A Capella, open to singers grades 9-12, meets on Sunday afternoons from 2-3:30pm. This group of girls can go from singing Mariah Carey to Armenian hymns in a matter of minutes- all with a smile on their faces!! If you are interested in auditioning, please contact Dona! All contact info is at the top of this page, in the right column.
A Capella stays late for rehearsal knowing there was pizza waiting downstairs…Dona works them hard but it is (clearly) ALWAYS worth it! Special thank you to Anthony DeMatteo at Blue Moon Pizzeria in Norwell center for donating delicious pizza and food to our hardworking singers!!
For our younger singers, we have the Studio Chorus! Ranging from grades 3 through 8, these girls sing a wide variety of choral pieces, including many different genres. As you can see in the pictures, these girls from over seven South Shore communities have a close, special bond, and love to create beautiful music together! Once again, contact Dona for details! Create new friends, new music, and learn something new every week about choral singing and music!
Community Reach-out: Friendship Home
One of the most amazing things about music is the way it brings so many different people together. Every year for the past eight years, the Studio Chorus and A Capella look forward to a night full of singing, dancing, and some of the most precious and beautiful holiday memories. The Friendship Home in Norwell is a overnight and daytime activity center for individuals of a variety of ages with disabilities, and is full of cordial people who advocate and care for them. They are the most welcoming, participant audience to sing for, and this event is by far the most exciting concert of the season. Here are a few highlights of the group!
Lots of carols! Our favorite!
Choristers and Friendship Home members love to reconnect and sing their holiday favorites each year!
Sophomore at Norwell High School Maura McGraw joins JR for a beautiful holiday solo. Like I said- nothing brings two strangers together like the holidays and some good music!
Solo Recitals
HUGE congratulations to all the solo performers, and the amount of hard work and improvement we have seen this season. Big things to come in 2020, and as always- even better music!
Talented soloists Megan Johnson and Julia Yacovone congratulate one another on a job well done!
